Chinese delegation briefed about Jabba dam construction
PESHAWAR: A Chinese delegation was briefed about the proposed Jabba Dam in Jamurd tehsil of Khyber Agency on Thursday.
The Chinese delegation was briefed during a visit to the office of Fata Development Authority. The briefing was attended by senior officers of the Fata Development Authority, said a press release.
Maqsood Anwar Khan, general manager, Technical, Fata Development Authority, highlighted the salient features of the Jabba Dam.
He said the main objective of construction of the Jabba Dam was to ensure sustainable water supply to the inhabitants of Hayatabad Township, Regi Lalma Township in Peshawar as well as Jamrud tehsil of Khyber Agency.
The project will benefit around one million populations. He said that revenue benefit from water supply will be $635.79 million per year and from fisheries it will be $29.73 million per year.
The Chinese delegation evinced interest in financing the construction of the Jabba Dam. It was agreed to take up the project to the next level in the coming months.
