LAHORE: The law enforcement agencies have revealed that the Ferozepur Road suicide bombing was carried out by a new group affiliated to the Tehrik Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Media reports quoting a senior police official say the Taliban Special Group (TSG), which has well-trained suicide bombers, was responsible for the attack. The police official said a TTP dissenter group, the Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, had claimed responsibility for the previous attacks in Lahore.

He added that the law enforcement agencies considered the emergence of TSG as a challenge and its members had been trained for carrying out large-scale attacks. He said it was possible that the facilitators had transported the bomber to the blast site in a rickshaw or some other vehicle.

The CCTV camera installed in the vicinity wasn’t functioning at the time of the attack and, therefore, identifying the facilitators was not possible, the police official said.
