Govt can create unrest if Panama case decision goes against it: Qadri
LAHORE: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chairman Dr Tahirul Qadri has said the PML-N government can create unrest in the country if decision in the Panama case goes against it.
Addressing by phone, the leaders of PAT Women Wing, Youth Wing and MWM on Wednesday, he said the rulers could go to any extent because and this had proved in the Model Town incident. He said if the existing system continued, the councilor-level people will tarnish the image of the country.
He said that if this opportunity of accountability was lost once, there would be no institution left to dare take any step against the mighty. He said the ruling family had failed to provide money trail of foreign assets but the prime minister was still sticking to his designation. Had this been a case in a foreign country, the people of that country would have thrown their PM out of power, he added.
Dr Qadri said that the sorry state of affairs for last 35 years had made people insensitive and they were least bothered what was happening in the country. The people are braving power outages spanning over 14 hours, he added.
He said now each and every Pakistan was under debt and the government was still taking foreign loans. He said the system had become so rotten that heads of institutions were loyal to one family instead of the country.
He cited former SECP Chairman Zafar Hijazi in this regard. He also quoted the Public Accounts Committee findings of corruption in mega projects, saying if there was a law and constitution, why the plunderers of public money were still at large.
