PESHAWAR: Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Ziaullah Afridi who has been expelled from the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) submitted a motion in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Secretariat on Wednesday against alleged corruption by two lawmakers of the ruling party.
In his motion, Ziaullah Afridi said that PTI MPA Yasin Khalil allegedly got money from people promising them employment in different government departments.
“A first information report (FIR) has also been lodged in a local police station against Yasin Khalil but he has got bail before arrest. The PTI-led government and the Ehtesab Commission did not take any action against Yasin Khalil although the party chief Imran Khan had earlier sacked him as a minister,” he added.
“Minister for Sports and Culture Mehmood Khan, who is also PTI president for Malakand division, has also deposited hundreds of thousands of rupees received as bribes in his personal bank account. This is illegal,” said the motion deposited in the provincial assembly.
It stated that both PTI lawmakers are allegedly involved in corruption but the Ehtesab Commission and Imran Khan have kept silence over it.
The adjournment motion further mentioned that the Ehtesab Commission is being used for exacting revenge and that it has been dysfunctional for the last two years. He demanded that the Ehtesab Commission be closed to save millions of rupees being spent on it.
