In 2011, the KP government introduced the direct credit system (online pension payment) to wrap up the old manual pension payment system. Under this system, monthly pension is automatically credited to a pensioner’s bank account. The pensioner can withdraw the amount pension through cheque or from ATM anywhere in the country. Undoubtedly, this system has put an end to long queues outside the banks.
Initially pensioners were reluctant to opt for the direct credit system, but since July 2015, it has now become mandatory for all new pensioners to draw their pension through this system. The concerned authorities have provided commendable services to pensioners by not only implementing an online system of pension payment on an urgent basis, but by addressing the pensioners’ grievances on a priority basis.
