LAHORE: Hot and humid weather continued to prevail in the city here Friday while Met office predicted similar weather conditions for the next 24 hours.
Met office said seasonal low lies over north Balochistan while weak monsoon currents are penetrating southern parts of the country. They said strong monsoon currents are penetrating upper parts of the country and likely to continue during next two to three days while a shallow westerly wave is still persisting over upper and central parts of the country and likely to persist during next few days.
Met office predicted that rain-thunderstorm is expected at scattered places in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Mirpurkhas divisions, Islamabad and Kashmir, while at isolated places in Peshawar, Kohat, Hazara, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Sahiwal, Multan divisions, Fata and Gilgit-Baltistan. On Friday, rain-thunderstorm (with isolated heavy falls) occurred at a number of places in Islamabad, Rawalpindi division, while at scattered places in Faisalabad, Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Mirpurkhas divisions, Kashmir and at isolated places in Lahore, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Sahiwal and Hyderabad divisions.
Rainfall was recorded at several cities, including Islamabad (Saidpur 107mm, Golra 53mm, Bokra 18mm, Z.P 14mm), Kamra (56mm), Chakwal (31mm), Jhang (22mm), Rawalpindi (Chaklala 14mm, Shamsabad 11mm), Sahiwal (09mm), Murree (06mm), Okara (03mm), Faisalabad (01mm), Lahore (Trace), Joharabad, Jhelum,
Gujranwala and Toba Tek Singh (Trace), Kakul (26mm), Risalpur (13mm), Malam Jabba (09mm), Balakot (03mm), Saidu Sharif and Lower Dir (02mm), Cherat (01mm), Islamkot (64mm), Nagarparkar (50mm), Dhahli (30mm), Mithi (22mm), Chhor (21mm), Chachro (12mm), Diplo (10mm), Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas (08mm), Badin (Trace), Kotli (09mm) and Muzaffarabad (07mm).
Friday’s maximum temperature was recorded at Dalbandin where mercury reached 43°C while in Lahore it was 36°C, minimum was 27.4°C and humidity was 48 percent.
