Sharifs must not take collision path with institutions: Bilawal
ISLAMABAD: Chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said on Friday that the Sharif family should not follow a collision path with institutions.
The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) decided to wait for the announcement of the reserved judgment from the Supreme Court in the Panama case to explore its future line of action.
Following the decision of the Supreme Court of Pakistan to reserve the judgment in the Panama case, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari held a meeting with senior PPP leaders, including
Secretary General Nayyar Hussain Bokhari, PPP Parliamentarians Secretary General Sherry Rehman, PPP Central Punjab President Qamar Zaman Kaira and Senator Farhatullah Babar to explore various possibilities which would emerge after the apex court’s decision on the Panama Papers case.
Following the meeting, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari left for Karachi.
Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly (NA) Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah said that the time of counseling Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had passed.
The opposition leader stated that two judges of the Supreme Court bench, hearing the Panamagate Case, had their verdicts reserved while three of them were on the same page. “PM Sharif was thinking that he would get away in this case,” Shah said.
Earlier, while talking to the media outside the Supreme Court of Pakistan, the PPP leaders lashed out at the ruling party.
Vice President PPP Parliamentarians Sherry Rehman said the premier should come out in the open about his references to elements pulling the strings of the country. “The prime minister should tell the nation who is puppet master, who pulls the strings,” she said.
She said that the PPP always bowed its head to the court’s decision but the ruling party’s obstinacy had reached new heights. She said the Supreme Court judges heard patiently and tolerated the threats of the government.
Qamar Zaman Kaira said after the completion of the hearing into the Panama case, the history had put heavy responsibility on the judges.Former governor of Punjab and PPP leader Latif Khosa added that the PPP played a significant part in strengthening democracy and it would protect the Supreme Court. “We attended the hearing because we are also responsible for writing the Constitution,” Khosa declared.
