LAHORE: A meeting to review progress in buffalo research was held at Buffalo Research Institute (BRI) at Pattoki. According to a press release, University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Nasir Pasha while presiding over the meeting emphasised that buffalo was an important animal of the country which was source of livelihood for farmers. Buffalo provides 50 percent beef, 60 percent milk and traction power for the farm operations at the national level, he added. He said research interventions along with Livestock and Dairy Development Department’s services were highly important to resolve the feeding, management, genetic improvement, disease control issues and to make buffaloes economically viable for farmers.
