Senate chief accepts Babar Awan’s resignation

Islamabad: Senate Chairman Mian Raza Rabbani on Thursday accepted the resignation of Senator Zaheerud Din Babar Awan from membership of the Upper House of Parliament--the Senate.
The Senate chairman, earlier, issued notice to Senator Babar Awan to appear in his chamber
to ascertain whether the resignation submitted by him was genuine and voluntary as required under the rules and the rulings of the chair.
In this regard, Senator Babar Awan appeared in person before the Senate chairman and verified the resignation submitted by him which was accordingly accepted by the Senate chairman. Babar Awan was PPP senator, who has quit the party and joined PTI recently.
