LEICESTER, England: West Indies beat Pakistan by 19 runs under the D/L method in their Women’s World Cup match here on Tuesday.

Batting first, West Indies scored 285 for four in 50 overs although they had lost two early wickets. DJS Dottin struck 104 off just 76 deliveries hitting 12 fours and three sixes. Skipper LR Taylor scored 90, hitting 11 fours and a six.

Although Pakistan put up a solid response, a combination of rain and quick wickets meant their innings was cut short on 117 for 3 — 19 short of the DLS par score in 24 overs. It was their 13th successive loss in a World Cup match.

Pakistan’s revised target was 245 in 38 overs. Javeria Khan was unbeaten on 58, which she scored off 72 balls, striking seven fours, when rain interrupted the game for a third time.

Opener Nahida Khan made 40 off 46 balls, with four boundaries.
