An event titled ‘World Performers of Pakistan’ was organised by a local varsity to honour high-achieving citizens who have represented the country and earned laurels at a global level.
Organised by the Institute of Business Management, the event was a well-attended affair and commenced with a stirring and thought-provoking video based on the Pakistanis who have excelled in fields as diverse as science and technology, medical and environmental sciences, engineering and computer science, education and research, literature and linguistics, CSR and corporate communication, politics and parliamentary affairs, sports, mountaineering and trekking.
The presentation commenced with tributes to eminent philanthropists Abdul Sattar Edhi and Dr Adeebul Hasan Rizvi and highlighted an array of Pakistanis who have brought the country international recognition including Salma Zahid, an educator from Islamabad who has been a member of the Canadian parliament since 2015 and is also a member of the Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration, UK; and Sayeeda Hussain Warsi, member of UK’s House of Lords, chairman of the Conservative Party (2010-2012) and Senior Minister of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs (2012-2014).
The presentation also included inspirational video messages for the varsity’s students by Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan; Dr Atta-ur-Rehman, Prof Dr Javaid Qamar, Dr Abdul Bari Khan, Jahangir Khan, Bilquis Edhi, Faisal Edhi, Dr Adeeb Rizvi, Dr Farhan Essa, Shahid Amin, Javed Miandad, Moin Khan, Younus Khan and Jalaluddin.
The university’s senior officials including Shahjehan Karim, Talib Karim, Sabina Mohsin and Parvez Jamil paid glowing tributes to over 50 Pakistanis from Karachi to Khyber who have earned global accolades for the country in their respective fields.
