LAHORE: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that resolving the energy crisis is vital for rapid development of the country and keeping the wheel of industry moving. He said the PML-N government was taking serious steps for overcoming energy crisis at the earliest.
Addressing a high-level meeting here Friday, which reviewed in detail the progress of various energy projects, Shahbaz Sharif said the Punjab government was working on projects of generating energy through coal, hydel, solar, bio-mass, bio-gas and other alternative sources; 100 Megawatt solar power project was at the final stages at Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park Bahawalpur and the Punjab government was executing this project through its own resources.
The chief minister said overcoming energy crisis was the government priority and effective steps were being taken for coping with the problem of energy shortage. Generation of cheap energy through LNG Park project will be possible. Speedy and transparent completion of development projects is the government policy and it is working on energy projects under the same strategy.
He said that LNG was being imported for overcoming energy shortage. He directed all the institutions and departments concerned to work in a coordinated manner for ensuring early completion of various projects. He said every moment of the nation was precious and we had to march forward speedily and warned that no laxity or negligence in energy projects would be tolerated.
