FASP wins laurels for Pakistan
Islamabad :Good news, whether on a big scale or a small one, warms the heart and makes us realize that despite setbacks, life goes on; people do great and unexpected things; want to coexist in peace and harmony and generally make the world a better place to live in. In this women are as equally involved as men and deserve more recognition as they endeavor and win despite the odds in whatever field they wish to excel.
After the Pakistan team won the Champions Trophy making Pakistan proud, winning more laurels for Pakistan, the Floral Art Society of Pakistan (FAS) Islamabad chapter has won several prizes at the 13th. World Association of Floral Arrangers (WAFA) World Show held a few days ago in Barbados. This stunning spectacle showcased the creative abilities of floral artists from around the globe in which competitors were given different categories of arrangements to test their skill.
A four member team headed out to the island where the event was held under the theme, ‘Flowers in Paradise.’ It featured over 270 individual floral artists and designers from over 28 countries so their win is quite an achievement. The results are as follow: Wiqar un Nisa Boolani (1st in Earth Tones); Humaira Babar (1st in Colours of the World); Asma Ansari (3rd in Beyond Imagination) and Ayesha Zahid (for best use of colour and commendable). The fifth member, Nusrat Bilal was nominated as one of the judges for the show.
So hearty congratulations to the team for showing that Pakistan has the talent and potential to be among the winners in any competition. WAFA was founded in 1981 to reinforce the bonds of friendship among the various members and provide a forum whereby members can exchange ideas and trends in flower arranging. The care and conservation of natural resources and the environment are also important considerations. With members from more than forty countries, WAFA holds a World Show every three years which is hosted by a member country to showcase the work of their members.
]The FASP was founded nearly 50 years ago and officially became a member of WAFA in 1990. Its objectives are not only to but to promote goodwill at both national and international levels by holding exhibitions, demonstrations, workshops and seminars. FASP has been contributing for various charitable causes and has raised substantial funds for Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital; Leprosy Centre; Kidney Centre; Fatimid Foundation; Pink Ribbon etc. by holding floral exhibitions and demonstrations. It has been participating in the World Show regularly and bringing laurels to the country by winning prizes in various competitions.
