MANSEHRA: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan on Saturday reached Shogran, a tourist attraction in Balakot Tehsil of the Mansehra district, to spend Eidul Fitr holidays.
He was accompanied by KP Minister for Information Shah Farman. Adviser to Chief Minister on Forests, Ishtiaq Urmar, received him.
Talking informally to the locals who had assembled there, Imran Khan said the PTI-led provincial government was working on a plan to promote tourism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
“Our province is rich in natural resources and beauty. Our government has been following a comprehensive plan to promote tourism here which would create jobs for locals. The local and foreign tourists will throng this area here,” he hoped.
The PTI chief said the government rest houses were rented out to public. He said the experience was very successful. Now the government-owned rest houses situated at tourist spots would be leased out to earn revenue which would be spent on welfare of people of province, added the PTI chief. “Whatever we are doing is for the prosperity of the people. When we would lease out government rest houses, it will not only generate revenue but also lessen huge expenses incurring on the maintenance of these buildings every year,” said Imran Khan while defending the move. Later, Imran Khan left Shogran for Siri Pai, a tourist attraction situated over 10,000 feet above the sea level and known for its pleasant environment. It was learnt that he would visit Spat valley in Lower Kohistan as well.
