MANSEHRA: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has sanctioned Rs1 billion for various projects of Hazara University.
A press release said that an amount of Rs200 million has been released during ongoing fiscal year and the rest would be released in next financial year.
Prime Minster Nawaz Sharif had announced Rs1 billion for various projects of the university during his speech here last year.
The release said that the money would be spent for construction of various facilities, including hostels, residences, faculty development programme, lab equipment, establishment of central lab, teaching lab, provision of books, ICT infrastructure and an independent electric feeder. Vice-Chancellor Dr Idrees thanked the HEC director for release of the grant.
He said the university would play its role in strengthening friendship with China and Southeast Asia through disseminating latest innovative approaches in modern research and teaching strategies of the new disciplines of science.
Dr Idrees expressed the hope that infrastructure, for which grant had been approved, would soon be built to attract more students, scholars, researchers and faculty to Hazara University.
