The recent blast in Quetta took place near IG Police office in a busy cantonment area. The formidable blast threw the organs of human beings all around. At least 13 people ? including seven policeman – have been killed in the blast while 19 others were seriously injured. It must be remembered that Quetta, the provincial capital of Balochistan province, has seen frequent attacks targeting government buildings and security forces, as well as civilians. In August last year, at least 74 people were killed in a suicide attack on the city’s civil hospital, while another 60 were killed in an attack on a police academy two months later.
Similar pattern of attacks taking place in Quetta shows the complete failure of security forces. Such attacks seem to be unstoppable and thousands of people have already lost their lives. The law-enforcement agencies must take serious action against terrorists. The National Action Plan should be implemented in its truest sense.
