The early monsoon spell is a positive sign if agriculturists of the Barani areas take advantage of it to sow their crops. While an encouraging sign, this early spell can also be a warning for impending devastating floods if proper measures are not adopted by the concerned authorities on time. It is the responsibility of the agriculture minister to conduct a survey in different areas and resolve all pending issues to avoid unpleasant situations.
Similarly, the federal and provincial health ministers should inspect dispensaries and hospitals to equip them with sufficient medicines required for water-borne diseases. The government should take necessary steps to avert the breakout of life threatening diseases and the spread of infections in flood-affected areas.
