Four Indo-Pak final viewers hurt in grenade attack

Four people sustained injuries when they came under a hand grenade attack while watching the ICC Champions Trophy’s final between Pakistan and India on a screen in Lyari’s Football Ground on Sunday.

Kalakot police said the four were watching the big cricket game between arch rivals when some men hurled the hand grenade at them and fled.

The injured were taken to the Civil Hospital Karachi, where they were identified as Khalil Bux, 28, son of Hussain Bux, Haider Ali, 32, son of Muhammad Anis, Imran, 26, son of Muhammad, and Ahmad Ali, 41, son of Zahir Ali.

Talking to The News on Monday, Lyari SP Aftab Nizamani said the victims suffered minor injuries to the back and they were discharged from the hospital after treatment.

He added that eyewitnesses identified the suspects who hurled the hand grenade at the cricket fans. He hoped that the culprits would be arrested shortly.

Taking action, Sindh Inspector General of Police AD Khowaja directed the DIG South to complete an inquiry into the incident and submit a report to him immediately.

Teenager commits suicide 

An 18-year-old boy took his life in Block I of the Sharifabad area on Monday.

Officials at Sharifabad Police Station said Ariz Malik, son of Shamim Malik, hanged himself form a ceiling fan in a house.  Police said the motive behind the suicide was not immediately clear.
