Islamabad: Members of the parliament, personalities from social welfare sector and journalists attended an iftar dinner with orphan children on eve of the International Orphans Day here.
The event was organised by the Pakistan Orphan Cares Forum which is consortium of various NGOs working for the welfare of orphans.Speaking on the occasion, Muhammad Abdus Shakoor, president of the forum and Al Khidmat Foundation said the along NGOs, the society has also started more attention than ever on looking after needs of orphan children. Senator Azam Khan Swati was chief guest on the occasion.
He said the Pakistan Orphan Cares Forum had started its activities across the country, two years back. In this connection, the Parliament also passed a bill to observe 15th of Ramaza as Orphans Day. The same day is observed as International Orphans Day in the Muslim countries.
The forum comprises Al Khidmat Foundation, Qatar Charity, Khobaiib Foundation, Ghazali Education Trust, Taamir-e-Millat Foundation, Helping Hands, Muslim Aid, Anjuman Faizul Islam and others.
Senator Azam Swati appreciated working of the forum observing that such a noble cause should continue.Forum’s secretary Nisar Ahmad said observing Ramzan 15 as International Day reflects as to how much importance is given to welfare of orphans by religion of Islam.
