Islamabad: The residents of the Union Council (UC-76) have said that if the supply of water is not restored in their area then they would be left with no other option except to launch protest against this apathetic attitude of the concerned authorities.

"We are being denied the supply of water in hot weather conditions despite the fact that millions of rupees have been spent to develop water supply scheme in the area," said Raja Nazakat, a resident of the Chaklala village.

He said the water supply scheme costing millions of rupees has been completed but supply of water to the residents of this union council is yet to start despite severe hot weather conditions in the month of Ramazan.

UC-76 chairman Tanvir Sadiq said Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan issued orders in 2016 to develop water supply scheme in Chaklala village and other adjoining areas and a plan was approved to construct 16 tube-wells to meet the water requirements of the residents of these areas.

He said the managing director of Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) indicated in November last year that the water supply scheme would be inaugurated in early 2017, adding "If the construction work has been completed then why not the people are being provided with the clean drinking water."
