‘Transparent census can ensure equal distribution of resources’
Sindh Governor Mohammad Zubair has said that a transparent census process could prove invaluable for provision of better facilities to the public and ensuring equitable distribution of resources among them.
He said this while presiding over a census meeting at the Governor House on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, he said the Pakistan Army’s services in the census were laudable.
Provincial census commissioner Abdul Aleem Memon said the census data had been sent to tje relevant ministry in Islamabad.
He said the census was completed in two phases in Sindh, the first one from March 15 to April 15 and the second from April 25 to May 25.
Both the phases were completed in 30 days, he said, adding that 38,999 blocks were established in the province for census and 200 to 250 houses were put in every block.
Memon said the census staff and officers were taken from the different government departments and their training had been completed by 29 January 2017.
He said 1,462 complaints were received during the census drive and they were solved on a priority basis. He said citizens could lodge complaints about the census drive till May 30.
