Committee to check marriage law violations

LAHORE

A sub-committee comprising Commissioner Abdullah Khan Sumbal, Special Secretary Local Government Punjab Shahid Nasr Raja and SP Security Ibadat Nissar has been constituted to analyse the data about complaints against violations of Punjab Marriage Function Ordinance 2016 and will fix responsibility.

The committee will also identify those government functionaries who failed to control various violations of Marriage Function Ordinance 2016 and will recommend action against such officials on case to case basis. The decision was made during a meeting of special monitoring committee to ensure effective implementation of Punjab Marriage Function Ordinance 2016 held Thursday under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Shamail Ahmad Khawaja at Civil Secretariat.  The special committee was given the task to formulate institutional mechanism for enforcement of this ordinance in full swing. Commissioner Abdullah Khan Sumbal, Secretary Local Government Muhammad Aslam Kamboh, Additional Secretary S&GAD Ashiq Hussain Aulakh, SP Security Ibadat Nissar, Deputy Secretary (Judicial) Home Department Bilal Ilyas, ADC Lahore Ms Sundas Arshad, Monitoring Officer (Regulations) Syed Ali Abbas, ACCP to Commissioner Aslam Shahid and Director Law Salahuddin participated.

The meeting decided that such sub-committees will also be constituted at other divisional headquarters of the province so that consistent action and legal enquiries against the violators and implementers of Punjab Marriage Function Ordinance be streamlined in letter and spirit. Additional Chief Secretary Shamail Ahmad on the occasion said there should be no discrimination between ordinary people and the residents of posh areas in this regard.

PFM: Haroon Khwaja was elected as Chairman of Pakistan Freedom Movement as a result of the intra party polls held on Thursday.

According to a press release, Nabeel Hashmi was elected as Secretary General, Major (R) Zafarullah Chattha as Finance Secretary, Ghulam Mohammad Lali as President Punjab and Dr Misbah Muzaffar as Secretary Information. Mujahid Bodla conducted the poll process as the Chief Election Commissioner.

magistrates: District government has increased the number of price control magistrates from 65 to 115 to ensure implementation of Ehteram-e-Ramazan Ordinance as well as to streamline the prices of essential commodities.

Officials said Lahore deputy commissioner has passed strict instructions to all price control magistrates regarding checking of prices and quality of essential edibles.

He said a control room will be established in his office to check performance of magistrates.

He directed them to directly send profiteers to jail and no relaxation will be given to anyone during Ramazan.
