ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) has issued a show cause notice to HUM TV for violating Electronic Media Code of Conduct 2015 in the episode titled “Sirf Dost” of a drama serial. The channel aired the drama on May 21, 2017.
Later, Pemra received a number of complaints on its Twitter account and complaint call centre where the viewers criticised the subject matter and theme of the drama and asked media regulator to take action.
Consequently, the authority issued the notice to the channel directing the management to appear before the Pemra committee and submit its reply within seven days i.e. by May 30. In case of non-compliance, Pemra will be forced to proceed ex-parte.
Meanwhile, Tricast, a mobile and web solutions provider, in collaboration with Pemra organised first-ever video technology seminar titled ‘Digital Pakistan’. The seminar discussed issues of digital rights, digitisation, privacy, piracy, content being aired on TV and IP TV etc. A large number of stakeholders of the industry, cable operators and senior officials of Pemra attended the seminar and shared their views.
