Khuhro says Nawaz wants to become successor of Zia, Musharraf: lambasts PML-N-led govt for damaging Pakistan’s reputation in world; says PML-N govt covering weaknesses by crushing voice of people on social media

KARACHI: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has said that it will continue with its agitation drive till Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would resign. The PPP also announced to expose the failures and lies of the federal government of Pakistan held by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

Speaking at a press conference here on Tuesday, Sindh Minister for Food and Parliamentary Affairs Nisar Ahmed Khuhro said that the credibility of Pakistan had been damaged in the eyes of the entire world, owing to the failed foreign policy of the present federal government. He cited recent events to prove his point, including the Saudi Summit debacle and the ICJ hearing of Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav.

Nisar Khuhro said, “The integrity of Pakistan had been under question due to the conduct of failed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.”

“Pakistan is getting isolated because of its failed foreign policy and a failed prime minister, while the government, in order to cover up its weaknesses, has been trying to suppress the voice of social media. Conducting raids against the people through FIA is a condemnable act,” he asserted.

He said that the PML-N had been following the footsteps of former military dictators like Ziaul Haq and Pervez Musharraf, adding that Nawaz Sharif had been trying to become the successor of those dictators.

Nisar Khuhro alleged that Nawaz Sharif had been denied the opportunity to speak at the recent summit in Saudi Arabia as the outside world had not been treating him well because of his ‘tainted’ reputation.

He said that the federal government had, in fact, strengthened the case of the enemy country by not sending an ad hoc judge of Pakistan to the International Court of Justice for the hearing of Indian reference against the death sentence awarded to Kulbhushan Jadhav.

Nisar further said that he didn’t accept Sartaj Aziz as the Adviser to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, adding that the PM was himself acting as the foreign minister of Pakistan but had failed to preserve dignity and prestige of Pakistan in the world.

He dismissed the impression that the PPP had not been giving tough time to the PM. He said that the PPP had always favoured the democratic process and it [PPP] would not allow any opportunist to derail democracy.

Khuhro said that the PPP had been objectively analysing the current situation of the country and it would publicly expose failures and lies of the PML-N government. The minister further added that the Pakistani nation had been disappointed due to the Supreme Court’s judgement in the Panama Leaks scandal.

He said the federal government had shown mala fide intentions by not announcing the new National Finance Commission (NFC) and thus denying the due revised fiscal share to the province. He said that the federal government had shown sheer ‘autocratic tendencies’ by not announcing the new NFC Award despite enjoying two-thirds majority in the National Assembly.

He said that the PPP would not let the PML-N led govt avoid its responsibilities regarding due fiscal rights of their province. He said that the PML-N’s govt had been trying to uphold the policies and traditions of former dictatorial rulers of the country.

On this event, members of minority wings of Muttahida Qaumi Movement, PML-N, PML-Q, and Jamaat-e-Islami announced to quit their respective parent political parties to join the PPP.
