‘Litigation delayed doctors promotion’
LAHORE
Punjab Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department has said that all possible resources are being utilised to strengthen healthcare delivery system and provide quality medical facilities to the people of Punjab.
A spokesman for Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department said a number of reforms were introduced to give relief to the people.
“Need-based induction for PG-ship is being carried out. More opportunities and encouragement have been given to the doctors for FCPS induction in those specialties in which the hospitals are facing shortage,” said the spokesman in a press statement.
According to a handout issued here on Tuesday, the spokesman, while responding to the issues raised by the Young Doctors Association (YDA), said that all the clauses of service structure 2012 of doctors had already been implemented. Moreover, the promotions of doctors from grade 18 to 19 are delayed due to litigation of different groups of the doctors. He said that in the past a few hundred doctors were inducted in different specialties for FCPS on paid slots, whereas, Specialised Healthcare Department had recently inducted more than 2,000 doctors in two phases in different specialties on paid slots under Punjab Residency Programme.
The spokesman said that the PRP was based on merit and transparency and all decisions were being taken on merit to strengthen the system and provide best health facilities to the people. The present system is free from nepotism, favouritism, pressure and negative tactics, he added.
The spokesman rejected the propaganda regarding the privatisation of the hospitals and said that no hospital was being privatised. He said that Rs 10,000 monthly risk allowance was being given to doctors, and draft law of Punjab Healthcare Institution Protection Act 2017 had been sent to Punjab Law Department for legislation.
The spokesman categorically said, “Patients first policy has been adopted by the government and all efforts are being made to implement it for which all the stakeholders have to work hard with professional zeal."
