KU awards 19 MPhil, 13 PhD degrees

The Board of Advanced Studies and Research, University of Karachi, has conferred 19 MPhil and 13 PhD degrees in various disciplines. According to a statement, the Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Ajmal Khan had given a formal approval in this regard on Thursday.

As per a statement issued on Thursday, PhD degrees were awarded to  Nausheen Hameed Siddiqui in pharmacognosy. 

Aqeel Ahmed in molecular medicine, Muhammad Hassan Ashraf Usmani in Qur’an and Sunnah,  Rahmatullah in usool-e-din,  Shuja-ur-Rehman in social work,  Muhammad Arshad in political science,  Oyoon (Mathematics). 

Najma Shaheen (Pharmacognosy),  Saba (Chemistry),  Faiza Shahid in biotechnology KIBGE,  Altaf Hussain zoology,  Birjees Rana in Islamic learning and  Yasmeen Zamir Ahmed in marine biology.

The MPhil degrees were given to Samiya Kainat in microbiology,  Abdul Ghani and Muhammad Ali in marine science,  Nimra Naveed Shaikh and Zunaira Khan in chemistry HEJ.

Nausheen Ghaffar in botany,  Fatima in pharmaceutics,  Sadia Siddiqui, Shahan Aziz and Wajiha Ali in agriculture, Musarrat Rasheed, Sidra Rafiq and Farheen Ayub in special education.

Dr Kaneez Fatima in anatomy (BMSI), Dr Mehreen in biochemistry (BMSI), Dr Aliya Ishaque in physiology (BMSI),  Rabia Tabassum in ISPA,  Maojee in marine biology and Muhammad Mazhar in English linguistics.

One killed, two hurt in accidents: A man was killed and two others received injuries in different road accidents in the city on Thursday.  

A man named, Badam Sheikh was severely injured when a car hit him near Nursery bus stop. The 58-year-old man was rushed to JPMC where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Moreover, Zahid, 30 and Iqbal, 28, received multiple injuries when a speeding vehicle hit their motorbike. They were taken to JPMC for treatment.
