ISLAMABAD: The two-day ‘The News Education Expo’ ended at the Pakistan-China Friendship Centre here on Wednesday on a high note, getting a tremendous response from both visitors and exhibitors.

The organisers said the stalls of the country’s leading colleges and universities attracted crowds of people, mostly youth, who were interested in educational and career guidance and registration for admissions.

They said the Jang Media Group’s event provided students with a platform to directly interact with educational institutions and experts on their educational and career issues and possible solutions and thus, furthering the cause of education in the country.

Though it was a hot sunny day, the expo’s venue was packed with people, especially youth accompanied by friends or parents. As the visitors learned about the opportunities of further education, admission procedure and scholarships, some of them submitted enrolment forms to the educational institutions of their choice.

“Having done BA recently, I’m exploring opportunities for high education these days. The purpose of coming to this place is also to interact with the representatives of colleges and universities about their courses, especially those carrying merit-based or other financial assistance. After visiting several stalls, I find the expo to be very helpful,” Muhammad Kamran, an Islamabad-based youngster, said.

Jalil Khan, a graduate from Rawalpindi’s outskirts, said he had shown up to know about scholarships offered by higher education institutions. “I belong to a poor family but managed to get education up to bachelor’s level at a government college. Now with a keen desire to pursue further education, I’m here to know about private educational institutions offering financial assistance. It is a good initiative on part of the Jang Media Group for the people like me. It’s very helpful,” he said.

The stallholders appreciated the holding of the expo and said they got a very good response from the people. They said the event helped them market their services besides exploring the nationwide growth opportunities.

Promising to provide the people with quality yet affordable education, the stallholders called for the holding of such events in future, too, to the benefit of all concerned. “Hats off to the Jang Group for bringing the country’s leading educational institutions under one roof to further the cause of education in the country. This event is beneficial for both us (educational institutions) and students as one on hand, it has given us a good opportunity to inform the people about our courses and the benefits attached to them and on the other, visitors are getting guidance on education and career,” said Asad Iqbal of a private educational group.

Aqab Hussain of the Virtual University said the expo was a good initiative, which helped educational institutions publicise their services and students have good access to a wide range of information on education, especially on further studies.

Another stallholder, Erum I Khan of the Conzept Connection, an education and career consultancy, appreciated the holding of the expo saying it has always helped boost her company’s business.
