KARAK: Literati from various parts of the province attended the launching ceremony of two books at the district council hall here on Saturday.
On the occasion, Director of Pashto Academy, Peshawar, Professor Dr Nasrullah Khan Wazir, senior poet Prof Dr Abaseen Yousafzai, Dr Syed Mohayuddin Hashmi of Afghanistan, Dr Iqbal Naseem and Raham Zaman Zalmay Khattak and others paid tributes to the life and thoughts of Khushal Khan Khattak.
They said that Pashto literature was incomplete without Khushal Khattak.
The books launched were “Zakhmoona aw Tasweeroona” authored by Dr Wazir Shadan and another book “Dr Iqbal Naseem Khattak” written by Dr Banaras Khan Khattak and Dr Wazir Shadan Khattak.
In the book, they portrayed the life and works of Dr Iqbal Naseem Khattak and his services for the cause of promotion of the Pashto literature. The speakers deplored that regional languages were not patronised by the government and said that development was possible only by using mother tongue as means of communication and official proceedings.
The speakers said that Pashto language was of immense importance, adding that the developed countries had achieved progress by promoting their respective mother tongues.
