Over 3,000 PN personnel performing census duty
ISLAMABAD: As the sixth Population and Housing Census 2017 is in progress across the country, the Pakistan Navy is extending full support to the exercise. "Being a national cause, Pakistan Navy is extending all out support by deploying more than 3,000 Pakistan Navy personnel for enumeration duties and security of the field staff and in collaboration with Pakistan Army and civil government," the spokesman of Pakistan Navy said.
In order to interact with troops deployed for census duties in different areas of interior Sindh, Commander Karachi Rear Admiral Ather Mukhtar visited Sukkur and Khairpur on Wednesday.
Upon his arrival at Circuit House, Khairpur, the Commander Karachi was apprised about deployment details of PN personnel assisting the enumeration process in districts of Thatta, Tharparkar, Badin, Mirpur Khas, Sanghar, Nawabshah, Hyderabad, Petaro, Khairpur and Naushero Feroz. Commander Karachi also met local and district administration officers and notables who appreciated PN efforts for rendering active support for the smooth conduct of census 2017. Commander Karachi expressed his satisfaction over Pakistan Navy’s role to ensure credibility, transparency and security of the operation in different areas of Sindh.
The first phase of 6th national population census began on 15 March 2017 and successfully completed on 15 April 2017 in which around 3000 PN personnel were deployed. The second phase is under progress which will culminate on 25th May 2017.
