PNEC holds 26th convocation

“Be the custodians of ideological frontiers of the country and stick to basic principles of unity faith and discipline.”
Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah gave this advice to the passing out students at the 26th Convocation of the Pakistan Navy Engineering College (PNEC) on Saturday.
The admiral said the Pakistan Navy, being a technology-intensive force, has always pursued higher education to groom its officers in all departments and has converted the PNEC into a hub of higher education with the consistent support, encouragement and cooperation of the National University of Science and Technology (NUST).
He said the navy was committed to groom its officers and men at par with regional and international navies through participation in international exercises, training at foreign military institutions and participation in various international forums.
The naval chief urged the students to harness full potential to serve their motherland and prove themselves as responsible and resourceful citizens.
“While entering into professional life I can imagine that multifaceted challenges are waiting and this institution expects you to uphold its reputation with excellence in professional knowledge and skills. You have to gain expertise and to develop research capacity to become a much needed engineering professional,” he added.
Admiral Zakaullah reiterated the fact that Pakistan remains an active stakeholder in war on terror and in this scenario armed forces have been leading from the front to eliminate terrorism in all its kinds and manifestations.
Earlier, in his welcome address Commandant PNEC Commodore Zahid Iqbal highlighted that the college has attained a high level of excellence and apart from teaching BE courses in various disciplines the college is also conducting Ms and PhD programmes in a range of engineering fields.
The ceremony was also attended by the commander Karachi, rector NUST, senior naval officers and parents and relatives of the graduating students. The naval chief awarded degrees to 237 graduates in various disciplines of engineering.
