Call to provide market-based education to students
LAHORE
Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) Chairman Prof Dr Nizamuddin has underscored the need to assess factors behind unemployment and provide market-based education to students on campuses.
He said this while addressing the 5th degree awarding ceremony of Punjab University’s Hailey College of Commerce (HCC) here on Tuesday. In the ceremony, 435 degrees of MPhil, MCom 1 ½ years, MCom 3 ½ years and BCom honors were awarded to the students who had passed in 2014 session.
PU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Zafar Mueen Nasir, HCC Principal Prof Dr Hasan Mobeen Alam, Registrar Dr Muhammad Khalid Khan, Dean Prof Dr Muhammad Taqi Zahid Butt, Controller of Examinations Prof Dr Shahid Munir, senior faculty members and a large number of students were present on the occasion.
Dr Nizam said there was a need to conduct surveys of market demands so that modern features could be incorporated in the curriculum and special certification courses could be introduced. He said we must utilise our young talent and training courses must be arranged to provide manpower abroad as well.
Dr Zafar Mueen Nasir said the university would start entrepreneurship programme and would introduce various programmes related to Islamic banking. He advised the students to promote positive thinking and work hard to achieve their goals. He also advised them to support education of those children who could not afford to get education.
Prof Dr Hasan Mobeen Alam said the college was organising job fairs and co-curricular activities to polish talent of its students.
art exhibition: Two-day 11th All Pakistan Environmental Art Exhibition arranged by Environmental and Horticultural Society of the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) and participated by more than 40 universities started on Tuesday.
The exhibition features 3D-models, sculptures, painting sketching and photographs. The core objective of this exhibition is too aware the public about natural resources and human.
UET Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Fazal Ahmad Khalid speaking at the opening ceremony said the protected environment reflected the thinking and way of behaving of a society which was helpful to assess the health of that society. In present era, the threats to environment were increasing.
