KARACHI: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif is determined to bring back the disgruntled federal minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Riaz Pirzada, who resigned the other day.
A source told ‘The News’ on Sunday that Shahbaz had advised Pirzada that he should not give any statement to media as he was going to resolve the issue as soon as possible.
“Shahbaz Sharif has already contacted Pirzada and he will come to Islamabad on Tuesday and will tackle Pirzada’s issue,” the source said.
The surprising suspension of the Director General of Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Dr Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera forced Pirzada to quit.
He pointed out to the Prime Minister in his resignation letter that he had not been treated fairly by the PM’s Principal Secretary.
Because of this development, the PSB postponed the Quaid-e-Azam Games. The issue put the PSB in deep trouble as it does not know how to send the national contingent to Baku for Islamic Games, slated to be held from May 12-22. Khayyal Zad Gul, the joint secretary of the CCI, has been given additional charge of DG PSB. Khayyal is also acting as joint secretary of the IPC.
