This refers to the news report ‘DHA, Naval Anchorage to build their own interchanges’ (April 22). According to the news report, the DHA and the Naval Anchorage both have agreed to build interchanges at their respective entry-exit points at the Islamabad Expressway. The Naval Anchorage’s design for the interchange has been approved by the CDA whereas the DHA has yet to submit its design. It is hoped that the DHA does takes suitable action as at present the entry-exit points are unsafe due to heavy and fast traffic on the Islamabad Expressway.
Once the Bahria Town agrees to build its interchange as well, the time taken to travel to Islamabad will be reduced significantly. Before the Karal Chowk Interchange was built, the traffic would back up three kilometres during the evening rush hour. It is hoped that these interchanges will be built on time.
