FIR against Khursheed Shah’s brother
FIA registers
LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has registered a case against Engr Abdul Qadir Shah, former chairman of Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) and brother of NA Opposition Leader Khursheed Shah, and other PEC officials for allegedly illegally renewing licences of construction companies, The News has learnt.
PEC sources told this correspondent on Thursday that FIR No 08/17 dated April 25, 2017 had been registered with FIA’s Special Investigation Unit (SIU) Islamabad under Sections 420, 467, 468, 471, 109, 409 of PPC and 5(2)47 of the Prevention of Corruption Act (PCA).
Shah had been appointed PEC chairman in 2011 by former prime minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani. According to the sources, the FIR was registered against the PEC management on the complaint of Razzaq Ali Bhatti.
The investigation has been entrusted to Ahmed Rizwan Khan, assistant director, FIA, Lahore. When contacted, a senior Interior Ministry official, seeking anonymity, said the accused would be arrested soon as some of them had approached court. The News tried to contact Khursheed Shah through text and calls but he didn’t respond.
