seminar: Centre for Social Justice (CSJ) in collaboration with Govt College University organised a seminar entitled “What is Liberalism” on Wednesday at GCU. The event was participated by the students and teachers from different departments of GCU.

Speaking on the occasion, chairperson of CSJ Wajahat Masood said, “Liberalism encompasses accepting possibility of being wrong, compassion / empathy, productivity and human freedom. It has nothing to do with belief and dress code, and nothing like judging others from their appearance and practices. Liberalism is to respect norms and accept the challenge of non-existence. Without modesty and humanity, there is no concept and ideals of liberalism. Liberalism values and accepts both diverse perspectives one that conserves wanting to regulate things, and other that liberates wanting to inaugurate, improvise and experiment. A person can be called liberal if he or she has empathy for others, and has love for knowledge, creativity, productivity, and strives for equality of rights and opportunities.”

The executive director of the CSJ, Peter Jacob, said the event has contributed to treat some of the misunderstanding and misconception among youth in particular regarding liberalism.
