SECP conducts awareness session for WWF employees
ISLAMABAD: The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) conducted an awareness and enablement session for the employees of the Workers Welfare Fund (WWF) at their office in Islamabad, a statement said on Tuesday.
The SECP’s senior representative led the session, which was attended by a large number of WWF employees, it added. The session focused on guiding participants about the SECP and its role as the apex regulatory authority.
The participants were briefed about the Investor Education’ Jamapunji campaign, the purpose of which is to create awareness for both existing and potential investors regarding the key issues of the capital market, the statement said.
The speaker shared that the Jamapunji campaign is accessing the audience through diverse means both physical and virtual, believing it to be a continuous and long-term educational process of guiding all segments of society simultaneously.
Considering the keen interest of the WWF employees, the session focused on the topic of mutual funds. The SECP’s senior representative said in order to make small and large investments safely and professionally, investing in mutual funds is the most effective way. This method provides a valuable opportunity of increasing one’s saving through diversified investments, he added.
The session was made interactive by engaging the audience to discuss the crucial issues that they face in planning and managing their finances, the statement said. The session was followed by an interesting discussion of the subject matter that opened up vistas of new understanding, ways and means of savings and investments for the audience.
Mohammad Qasim Samad Khan, WWF secretary, thanked the SECP for presenting financial guidebooks to its employees. He also said such financial literacy sessions should take place more often and his organisation will continue to seek guidance from the SECP. The event concluded with the expression of thanks by the SECP to all participants for attending it.
