ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) demanded of Prime Minister Nawaz Nawaz Sharif to step down after the country’s top court gave its decision in the PanamLeaks case.

In a statement issued here on Monday, PBC Vice Chairman Ahsen Bhoon said that after the verdict announced by the Supreme Court in PanamaLeaks case, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had lost moral justification to remain as chief executive of the country hence he should immediately relinquish the slot.

As all the judges of the top court of the country in their separate notes referred to the corruption of prime minister and his family, such type of people have no justification to further remain in politics.

PBC vice chairman demanded that the learned judges of the apex court should approve such officials for the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) who have impeccable character and should not accept any pressure.

He further said that after the verdict of Panama case, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman should also tender immediate resignation. The PBC resolved that legal fraternity of the country would be united and after consultations with all the bar councils and bar associations, next line of action would be evolved for taking steps which would be inevitable for the progress of the country, strengthening the dignity of the judiciary as well as for the eradication of corruption from the country.
