LAHORE
As a result of the efforts made by the Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC) Punjab, 5,640 Kanal land and other buildings worth billions of rupees have been retrieved from the illegal occupants. OPC Vice-Chairperson Shaheen Khalid Butt and Commissioner Afzaal Bhatti said this while addressing the participants of a reception given by the Pakistani community in Brussels, Belgium.
A large number of Pakistanis living in Brussels and other cities of Belgium were present on the occasion. Shaheen Khalid Butt and Afzaal Bhatti informed that so far the possession of 140 houses and plots in a housing scheme had been given to overseas Pakistanis, who had booked these houses and plots some 10 years ago.
They said that by now 50 percent of the complaints had been settled amicably by the OPC and almost all public sector departments of Punjab were sensitised of the issues of overseas Pakistanis. Leader of Pakistani community in Brussels Nasir Chohan and others while lauding the efforts of OPC for solving the problems of overseas Pakistanis said that the institution had exhibited exceptional performance. They said the Punjab chief minister should be commended for establishing such an effective platform.
