‘Shifting of US Consulate’s Commercial Service Office to help traders’

The senior commercial officer of the US Consulate in Karachi, Stephen P Knode, along with a delegation, called on Sindh Board of Investment (SBI) Chairperson Naheed Memon at the board’s office on Monday.

Talking to the delegation, Memon lauded the steps taken for shifting the Commercial Service Office of the US Consulate from Islamabad to Karachi, and said that Karachi was the business hub having the majority of financial activities.  

The shifting of the Commercial Service Office of the US Consulate to Karachi would help traders, industrialists and investors to easily access the facility, she added. They also discussed holding an international business opportunity conference in Karachi with the cooperation of the United States.

The SBI chief informed the delegation about the availability of investment opportunities in technology and equipment sectors in projects related to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

She also briefed them about the availability of opportunities for investors in expansion of urban market and urban market products. Fruitful investment opportunities were available in food pharmaceutical technology transport and many other sectors, she added.

 

Judicial transfers

The chief justice of the Sindh High Court ordered the transfers and postings of some additional district and sessions judges with immediate effect.  As per a notification, Fateh Mubeen Nizam has been transferred from Thatta to Larkana against a vacant post. Similarly, Qamaruddin Abbasi is transferred from Hyderabad to Mirpur Mathelo, while Abdul Haque Mangrio has been transferred from Mirpur Mathelo to Rato Dero against a vacant post.
