KU announces admissions schedule
The University of Karachi will host its admissions test on May 14 and prospective students can download forms from www.uok.edu.pk and submit them from April 17 to April 24.
The forms should also have the required documents and a fee of Rs3,500 in the form of a pay order in favour of KU.
Applicants for PhD (Law) and MS/MD are required to attach a fee of Rs6,500 in the form of a pay order. The list of eligible candidates will be displayed on KU’s website on May 5.
Candidates deemed eligible for the KU Entrance Test will be required to collect the admit cards from May 8 to May 12 from the relevant departments.
The entrance test will be held on Sunday, May 14, at 10am. The candidates are required to report at 9:30 am at the respective department with admit cards and original CNICs. The list of successful candidates will be put up on KU’s website on May 19.
48 degrees awarded
The University of Karachi’s Board of Advanced Studies and Research has awarded 16 MPhil, 30 PhD, and one MS and MD degree each in various disciplines, the varsity announced on Friday.
KU Registrar Professor Dr Nabeel Ahmed Zubairi said Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ajmal Khan had accorded formal approval for the degrees at a BASR meeting held on April 13.
The PhD degrees were awarded to Muhammad Abdul Aziz (Islamic Learning), Yasmeen Sultana (Mass Communication), Sana Hussain (Psychology), Huma Imam (Quran and Sunnah), Muhammad Ahmed Ali (Urdu), Naheed Saeed (Philosophy), Shazia (Mass Communication), Shams-ul-Haq (Quran and Sunnah), Samia Aijaz (Urdu), Sadaf Tabassum (Urdu), Sheeba Farhan (Psychology), Huma Dilshad (Pharmaceutics), Muhammad Iqbal Nasiri (Pharmaceutics), Bushra Shamshad (Chemistry), Huma Niaz (Chemistry HEJ), Hira Rafi (Botany), Zia-ur-Rehman (Geography), Abdul Rahim Khan (Marine Biology), Muhammad Salman Rasool (Microbiology), Meha Fatima Aftab (Molecular Medicine), Farkhanda Hassan (Chemistry), Saima Tabassum (Public Administration), Nasir Majeed (Islamic Learning), Syed Rizwan ul Haq Tirmizi (Mathematics), Faqiha Sultan (Mathematical Sciences), Zill-e-Huma (Social Work), Muhammad Sajid Khan (Urdu), Maryam Mazhar (Molecular Medicine), Ishrat Rani (Botany), and Shazia Mansoori (Botany).
The recipients of MPhil degrees are Shahid Ali (Pharmacology), Zahra Barkat Ali (Clinical Psychology), Adnan Iqbal (Pharmacology), Samreen Zehra (Pharmacology), Samana Zehra (Pharmacognosy), Syed Abbas Raza (Physics), Muhammad Kashif (Physics), Tabassum Zehra (Applied Physics), Muhammad Fakhr-e-Alam Abbasi (Physics), Sahar Yousuf (Chemistry HEJ), Sadia Razi Khan (Chemistry HEJ), Naveed Iqbal Nasir (Clinical Psychology), Muhammad Yaseen (European Studies), Bassasmah Hanif (Microbiology), Ghulam Rasool Anees (Islamic Studies (SZIC), Sehar Tasneem (Chemistry HEJ).
A MS (Master of Surgery) degree was awarded to Dr Nasir Jawaid Sheikh (MBBS) (General Surgery), while MD (Doctor of Medicine) degree was awarded to Dr Muhammad Aslam (MBBS) (Cardiology).
