We are dedicated to our core values of integrity, accountability, independence, and objectivity and perform audits and other engagements in accordance with Auditor-General Ordinance 2001, said Rana Assad Amin.

He said that it is our duty to ensure that public resources are utilised in an economic, efficient and effective manner to improve the lives of citizens. Audits are the foundation of government integrity and are crucial in upholding investors’ confidence.

He said the current economic times require the government to deliver more with fewer resources, and this continues to be a challenge for the public sector. “Under these pressures, state entities may decide to reduce resources that support internal control and accountability mechanisms, leading to less internal scrutiny of financial management and performance which increases the importance of the role that audit plays in holding the government to account for its performance,” the AGP added.

The Auditor General of Pakistan said that it is essential that auditors continue in their efforts to improve audit quality and for audit professionals being alive to the external environment means keeping up with the latest developments in regulatory environment and anything that would impact it. “This is a tall order as there are many things that are not within our control. I encourage officers to build a good base of knowledge and competencies and strengthening their professional foundation so that when challenges arise, they are well prepared to face them,” he added.

He urged officers to participate in professional development courses and other value-adding seminars and workshops. Strengthen your core competencies; help build a solid foundation for the profession. “With your support, we can achieve our strategic goals.
