Campuses told to abide by drop lanes
LAHORE
Chief Traffic Officer Rai Ijaz Ahmad has directed the administrators of educational institutes to strictly abide by drop lane and proper parking of vehicles to help in maintaining the flow of traffic in the City.
He said that licensing camps will also be scheduled at colleges and universities soon to facilitate students. He expressed these views while addressing students at a private university.
Valuables burnt Valuables worth lakhs of rupees were reduced to ashes in a fire incident at a home in the Defence-C police limits on Tuesday.
Rescuers responded to the incident and controlled the fire. Fire erupted at the house of Yasir due to short circuit and engulfed the rooms. As a result, valuables worth lakhs of rupees were reduced to ashes.
Two held: A team of Anti-Human Trafficking Cell (AHTC) of the FIA Lahore Tuesday raided a visa consultancy located in Defence Housing Authority (DHA), Lahore and arrested two accused persons from the spot.
According to an FIA official, the raid was conducted at H-Block DHA Lahore wherein Mian Arif, owner and Hafiz Tariq, Manager, were arrested on the spot for their alleged involvement in extortion of a huge amount for sending people abroad.
Pakistani passports, coloured copies of visas of different countries were also recovered, he added. A case has been registered.
Office-bearers: Pioneers group has won the election of Aitchison College Old Boys Association (ACOBA). Pioneers and Reformers contested the election.
Shahjahan Ayub won the slot of ACOBA president by securing 631 votes. For Vice-President Usman Haq got 598 votes while Omer Qureshi secured 671 votes for secretary general.
UVAS oath-taking: The new office-bearers of the Nutritionists & Dieticians Society (NDS) of the University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences (UVAS) were sworn in on Tuesday. According to a press release, the ND Society celebrated its first anniversary with a cake cutting ceremony. UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha chaired the oath-taking ceremony while senior tutor, UVAS, Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf and a large number of students and faculty members were present. Prof Pasha administered oath to the office-bearers of (NDS), including its newly elected Chairman Muhammad Husnain Muaviah.
