PTV thrash Income Tax to qualify for semi-finals

KARACHI: Pakistan Television (PTV) qualified for the semi-finals when they overwhelmed Income Tax by nine wickets in their Group C game of the Patron’s Trophy Grade-II at Bohranwali Ground in Faisalabad on Wednesday.

PTV declared their first innings at 397-5 in response to Income Tax’s 114, gaining a huge lead of 283. They bowled Income Tax out in their second innings for 293 and achieved the 11-run target in two overs after losing one wicket.

In a Group A show, here at SBP Sports Complex, Karachi Port Trust (KPT) missed an outright chance of qualifying for the semi-finals when they conceded lead against State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).

KPT had a chance as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had upheld their protest against Candyland for fielding a couple of ineligible players in their group game in the beginning of the event.

SBP, who before the PCB’s decision had qualified for the semi-finals, now have re-confirmed their last-four spot irrespective of the result of this game.

In response to SBP’s first innings total of 370-5, KPT resumed their innings at 13 without loss and went on to score 237-7 in the allotted 83 overs.

Nadeem Javed, who hit a hundred in the last game, once again made 100 off 206 balls, striking nine fours and three sixes. Mohammad Asad got 2-25.

After gaining 123 runs lead, SBP were 30-1 in their second innings at stumps.

Here at the UBL Sports Complex, after securing a 147-run lead, Candyland were bowled out for 134 in their second innings to set 282 runs target for Pak Saudi, who were reeling at 5-2 in their second innings at close.

Fawad Khan belted 50 with eight fours. Mohammad Waqar claimed 6-61.

In response to Candyland’s first innings total of 337, Pak Saudi resumed their first innings at 42-2 and were bowled out for 190. Mohammad Shehzad (29) and Mohammad Farooq (25) were the prominent scorers. Ashiq Ali got 5-44.

Here at NBP Sports Complex, Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) gained 107 runs lead when they posted 382 all out in their first innings in response to Haideri Traders’ 275.

Yasir Mushtaq struck a splendid 139 off 182 balls, hammering ten fours and two sixes. Arsalan Farzand chipped in with 95 off 137 balls, banging 15 fours. Shabbir Ali captured 4-105.

Haideri Traders had resumed their first innings at 65-2.

At Pindi Stadium, Capital Development Authority (CDA) secured 107 runs lead when in response to Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited’s (ZTBL) first innings score of 240 they piled up 346-7 in the allotted 83 overs after resuming at 33 without loss.

Faizan Riaz scored 85, which came off 120 balls and had nine fours. Kamran Hussain (62) and Tauseef Sarwar (46) were the other prominent contributors.

Spinner Usman Qadir got 4-113.

ZTBL, already in the semi-finals, were 37-1 in their second innings at stumps.

At Marghzar Cricket Ground, Islamabad, Customs conceded lead when in response to Army’s 363-8 they were folded for 289 after resuming their first innings at 44-2. Omair Ahmed hit 100 off 113 balls, striking eight fours and one six. Akbar Babar struck 70 off 108 deliveries, striking seven fours. Khadim Jan got 4-55, while Shoaib Amir captured 4-51.

Army reached 127-2 in their second innings at stumps.

In an inconsequential match, at Diamond Club Ground, Islamabad, Umar Nawaz (174) and Ali Salman (102) blasted centuries to enable IMEX to secure a huge lead. They posted 490-5 in their first innings in response to POL’s 190.

Spinner Arsal Sheikh got 2-146.

POL were 126-3 in their second innings at close.

In an important Group D show, at LCCA Ground, Lahore, Brighto Paints gained lead when they staged 438 all out in their first innings in response to Omar Associates’ 315. Akbar Badshah hit 112.

Omar Associates were 20 without loss in their second innings at stumps.

At Railways Stadium, Lahore, Railways conceded lead when they perished for 154 in their first innings in reply to Ghani Glass’ 189.

Mohammad Asif got 6-54. Ghani Glass were 126-9 in their second innings at close.

At Jinnah Stadium, Sialkot, Sahibzada Farhan (114) and Faraz Ali (155) enabled K-Electric to gain a huge lead when they posted 524 all out in their first innings in response to NADRA’s 149.

NADRA were 122-7 in their second innings at stumps.
