Peace restored to restive areas: GOC Malakand

DIR: General Officer Commanding (GOC), Malakand Division, Major General Ali Amir Awan, has said terrorists have been defeated and peace restored with the cooperation of the people. He was addressing a ceremony on the Pakistan Day in the Barawal area and later also talked to the media.

Upper Dir Operational Commander Brigadier Rao Amir Yaseen, District Nazim Sahibzada Faseehullah, Barawal Tehsil Jehan Alam Khan and others were also present on the occasion.

The GOC said terrorists had been defeated and the remaining ones would also be captured soon.

Awan lauded the sacrifices and role of the people of Upper Dir in eliminating terrorism, adding that the Upper Dir people had a long history of sacrifices for the country.

He said that local people had proved through their efforts that they are patriotic. The official added that local people should keep an eye on terrorists’ presence in the district. He said he was happy to be present among the people of Barawal and Upper Dir on the occasion of March 23rd.  Students from various schools delivered speeches and national songs on the occasion.
