Bar associations across KP elect office-bearers
PESHAWAR: The elections for the district bar associations were held across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday.
The polling was peaceful and orderly and the lawyers enthusiastically took part in the yearly democratic exercise.
In Peshawar, the polling started at the stipulated time. A great hustle and bustle was witnessed throughout the day.
Fazal Wahid, the candidate of the Malgari Wakeelan, the ANP affiliated lawyers forum and Young Lawyers Forum, was elected as president of the Peshawar Bar Association (PBA). Ashfaq Ahmad Khalil of Grand Alliance was elected as secretary general, Waqar Khan as vice-president, Syed Bilal Jan as joint secretary, Asfandyar, secretary finance and Ms Shahana Sikandri, the secretary library.
NOWSHERA: Mian Sajjad Ali Shah Kakakhel of the National Lawyers’ Forum (NLF) was elected as president and Qazi Naseerul Haq of the Insaf Lawyers Forum (ILF) as general secretary of the District Bar Association Nowshera.
Mian Sajjad Ali Shah got 110 votes while his opponent Mian Zakirullah of the Grand Alliance polled 98 votes.
Qazi Naseerul Haq was elected general secretary by securing 105 votes against his opponent Muhammad Saleh of the People Lawyers’ Forum.
CHARSADDA: Waris Khan was elected president of the Charsadda Bar Association by securing 81 votes. Inyatur Rahman Khan was elected as vice president by getting 90 votes.
Saifullah Khan was elected as general secretary by obtaining 65 votes.
TAKHT BHAI: Malgari Wakilan group’s Qamar Zaman was elected president while Usman Ghani Khan won the polls for the office of general secretary of the Takht Bhai Bar Association.
Qamar Zaman was elected president of the bar for the 17th consecutive term.
BATKHELA: Rahat Shah was elected president of the Batkhela Bar Association. Ibadullah was elected general secretary by securing 43 votes
KOHAT: Javed Panji was elected president of District Bar Association by getting 102 votes; Javed Kaghazi was elected as general secretary of the bar by securing 107 votes.
KARAK: Malik Rehman of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz won the election for the post of president. Muhabat Khan was elected as general secretary.
Malik Rehman secured 34 votes while his rival candidate Muhammad Ishaq got 24 votes.
Muhabat Khan for the seat of general secretary polled 27 votes while his rival Wasiullah got 25 votes.
LAKKI MARWAT: Ashiq Hussain was elected president while Muhammad Akram Khan Araeen won the post of vice-president of the District Bar Association in Lakki Marwat. Ikramullah Khan was elected general secretary.
BANNU: Nisar Khan was elected president while Bakht Niaz the general secretary of the District Bar Association Bannu.
HARIPUR: Malik Asadullah was elected the president of District Bar Association Haripur for the second consecutive time. He polled 277 votes while his opponent Sardar Abdul Rauf got 151 votes.
MARDAN: Mohammad Islam Wardak and Zar Badshah of the Grand Alliance were elected president and general secretary, respectively, of the District Bar Association Mardan.
TIMERGARA: The panel of lawyers affiliated with the Jamaat-e-Islami and Pakistan People’s Party won the election for the District Bar Association in Timergara.
