Nadeem slams ton as KPT record another win

KARACHI: Nadeem Javed slammed an explosive unbeaten hundred to enable Karachi Port Trust (KPT) to record their second successive win when they overwhelmed Haideri Traders by ten wickets in their Group A game of the Patron’s Trophy Grade-II here at NBP Sports Complex on Wednesday.

Javed struck 106 not out off only 60 balls, hitting nine fours and five sixes to help KPT chase the 153-run target in the 18th over without losing any wicket.

Shah Ali Zafar made 45 not out which came off 46 balls and had four fours.

Having conceded a 79-run lead, Haideri Traders resumed their second innings at 84-3 and were bowled out for 231.

Irfan Haider hammered 106 not out. He hit ten fours from 330 balls. Mansoor Ahmed got 4-67. Fast bowler Adeel Malik picked 2-15.

Haideri Traders posted 225 all-out in their first innings. KPT, in response, staged 304-5.

In other show of the same group here at State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Ground, Candyland defeated Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) by 39 runs.

Chasing 161, CAA were folded for only 121 in the 47th over. Arsalaan Faraz hit 43 with six fours and one six. Ashiq Ali got four while Ata-ur-Rehman and Salman Khan claimed three wickets each.

Candyland scored 208 all-out and 123 all-out. CAA staged 171 in their first innings.

In Group B outing at Diamond Club Ground Islamabad, Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) also romped to an innings and 35 runs victory over Customs to claim full ten pints.

After being forced to follow-on Customs resumed their second innings at 105-3 and were bowled out for 201 in 66 overs. Saad Alam (69) and Umar Yousuf (33) were the leading scorers.

Munir-ur-Rehman got 4-38 while young BIlawal Iqbal and Salahuddin captured two wickets each.

ZTBL scored 352-7 in their first innings. In reply Customs piled up 116.

In other Group B show at Army Stadium in Rawalpindi, IMEX proved wrong the decision of their rivals Army to declare their second innings as they defeated soldiers by six wickets despite having conceded a lead.

IMEX achieved the 324-run target in the 55th over after losing four wickets, with Mohamad Naqash scoring a gallant 101 not out. Naqash smashed seven fours and two sixes in his gritty knock. He was ably backed by Umar Nawaz with a solid 93 which featured 12 fours and one six. Umair Sajid belted 49.

Earlier, after securing a 59 runs lead, Army resumed their second innings at 60-1 and declared it at 264-4.

Mohammad Miqdad Hussain (109) and Mohammad Shafi-ur-Rehman (103) hit superb centuries. Moosa Khan got 3-62. Army made 387-9 in their first innings. In response, IMEX made 328 all-out. At National Ground Islamabad, CDA overwhelmed POL by ten wickets.

CDA raced to the 55-run target in the sixth over. Earlier after having conceded a 193 runs lead POL resumed their second innings at 241-8 and were bundled out for 247.

POL scored 135 in their first innings. In reply, CDA accumulated 328.

The Group C game between PTV and Port Qasim Authority (PQA) ended in a draw at Iqbal Stadium Faisalabad with the former gaining three points due to first innings lead.

After having gained 38 runs lead PTV began their second innings at 30 without loss and went on to reach 251-5 till close of the game.

Sarmad Bhatti slammed 104 not out, hammering 12 fours and two sixes from 182 balls. Raheel Majeed made 72 with eight fours. Mohammad Talha and Arish Ali Khan captured two wickets each. PTV posted 318-9 in their first innings. In response, PQA staged 280 all-out.

The Group C show between Income Tax and Rahat and Shuja Impex at Jinnah Stadium Gujranwala also did not yield any result with the former taking three points due to first innings lead.

After gaining a 16-run lead Income Tax resumed their second innings at 87-1 and reached 385-7 till end of the show.

Adnan Danish hit 109 off 246 balls, striking 13 fours. Awais Iqbal got three, while spinner Amir Sohail and Aitzaz Habib claimed two wickets each.

Income Tax scored 327-7 in their first innings. In response, Rahat and Shuja Impex made 311 all-out. The Group D clash between Railways and K-Electric also ended in a stalemate with the former taking three points due to first innings lead.

After having gained a 27 runs lead, Zain-ul-Hasnain chipped in 219 to enable Railways reach 381 all-out in their second innings to set a target of 404 for their rivals who reached 26-1 till end of the three-day game.

Zain struck 33 fours and two sixes from 235 balls. Railways made 324 all-out in their first innings. In reply, K-Electric made 297 all-out.

At Railways Stadium, Lahore, Brighto Paints defeated Ghani Glass by seven wickets. Brighto Paints achieved the 143-run target in the 27th over with Afaq Ahmed scoring 88 not out.

Ghani Galss scored 226 all-out and 302 all-out. Brighto Paints piled up 386-9 in their first innings.
