Senate body seeks recommendations for empowering women chambers

ISLAMABAD: Senate Standing committee on Commerce on Wednesday formed the sub-committee for getting recommendations to resolves the main issues being faced by women chambers in the country.

The sub-committee was formed under convenorship of Senator Rubina Khalid along with other members for reviewing the issues being faced by women chambers and directed to submit the recommendation to the committee.

The committee meeting was chaired by Senator Syed Shibli Farazin parliament house here for discussion on the problems of women chambers and future plans for enhancing their capacity. Chairman Shibli Faraz urged the ministry of commerce to give financial support to these chambers for sustainability and enhancing their capacity.

He also urged the women chambers for evolving proper accountability mechanism and transparency within these institutions. The committee also seeks proposal on particular issues of all women chambers and directed to submit these problems in sub-committee for enhancing the capacity and empowering the women chambers.

The committee was informed by leader women chambers Masooma Sabtain as many as 14 women chambers are working across the country. These chambers have fully supporting the women entrepreneur and also give them facility for enhancing their businesses in the country.

On the occasion, President Women chamber Lahore Dr. Sheila, President Women Chamber Islamabad Samina Fazal, President Hazara Chamber Fidousia Fazal and other business women have been highlighted the issues of these chambers. The meeting was attended by Senators Ilyas Ahmed Bilour, Usman Khan Kakhar, Rubina Khalid, Karim Ahmed Khawaja, Saud Majeed and officials of ministry of commerce.
