WANA: Despite the announcement by the prime minister to reopen the border with Afghanistan, the Pak-Afghan border at Angoor Ada in North Waziristan Agency remained closed on Tuesday. The sources said that elders in the Paktika province of Afghanistan had organised a function to celebrate the reopening of the border. The sources said that Wargon and other adjoining areas of the Paktika province along with the border with South Waziristan were facing shortage of food items due to the closure of the border. They said prices of food items in these areas had skyrocketed after the border’s closure. The tribal elders asked the prime minister, army chief and other functionaries to take notice of the situation. They said reopening of the border in Angoor Ada would help resolve the food shortage issue in these areas.
