NA informed post of FDE director is on promotion only

Islamabad: Contrary to the past practice, the Ministry of the Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) on Friday informed the National Assembly that the post of director general of the Federal Directorate Education (FDE) is meant for 100% promotion.

In written reply to a question, the minister of state for CADD Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said the post of FDE DG is filled according to the recruitment rules. "The question of for advertising the post in newspapers does not arise in this matter," he said.

It may be pointed out that during tenure of the present government, the CADD has violated the recruitment rules for appointment of head of the FDE on two occasions.

Amir Ashraf Khawaja, an officer of the Pakistan Administrative Group and Mohiuddin Ahmed Wani, an officer of FBR were appointed as DG FDE on different occasion and they were removed on orders of the Supreme Court.

Both the officer does not hail from the FDE but still they were posted as DG FDE.

The post of DG FDE has been lying vacant for the last few months since retirement of Dr. Shahnaz Riaz Akhtar

Answering a question, Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhary told the House that Liver Transplant facility will be started at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).

He said 90 per cent machinery for the facility is available and availability of expert surgeons for liver transplantation is in process. He said at present, if a patient cannot afford the treatment of liver transplantation, funds will be provided from Prime Minister's Special Cell set up for this purpose.
