CS orders best arrangements for census

Punjab Chief Secretary Zahid Saeed has ordered deputy commissioners to ensure best arrangements for national census.
He was presiding over a video link meeting of deputy commissioner at civil secretariat on Wednesday. Addressing the meeting, the chief secretary said that first phase of census in 16 districts of Punjab has been started. Deputy commissioners should regularly review security and other necessary measures. He said the staff should perform duty diligently, honestly and responsibly in order to make process of census transparent and credible.
He directed that process of enrolment, education and examination should not be affected due to teachers’ duty for census. He said provision of best medical facilities, availability of medicines, missing facilities and cleanliness be ensured in all the district headquarters (DHQ) and tehsil headquarters (THQ) hospitals in the province, directing the deputy commissioners to regularly visit health facilities to review public service delivery.
The chief secretary said provision of best medical facilities for people is the top priority of the government. He said a comprehensive plan is being implemented to ensure best healthcare facilities at District Headquarters (DHQ) and Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) hospitals and medical superintendents would be financially and administratively empowered under this plan. He mentioned that attractive salary package and other benefits are being given to the doctors serving in far-flung areas so that they could work with more dedication and commitment.
He said campaign against polio be expedited in the districts that are prone to this deadly disease, adding that continued efforts are needed to eradicate dengue once and for all.
He directed the deputy commissioners to personally oversee anti-polio campaigns in their districts. He also issued instructions regarding timely completion of development schemes.
